I commend the leaders of this province and this municipality for your selfless dedication to uplift the lives of your constituents. Our collaboration today is a clear manifestation of our common goal of eradicating poverty and hunger. Yesterday, the provincial government had a job fair to facilitate the employment of jobseekers. They are the ones who want to be in the formal sector of employment. However, not all of us wants to be in the formal sector, many still want to start their own livelihood project to augment the needs of their family. Through our DOLE Integrated Livelihood program, we can provide the initial capital to start with the livelihood endeavor they have chosen. The project should be resource based, technology-driven and sustainable.

Today, we will turnover a check for the livelihood grants of 3 associations here in BarangayLiloan, in this municipality, namely; the Makiangayon Rural Improvement Club, Malipayon Farmers and Fisherfolks Association and Liloan Bay Beach Association for their native chicken production. We do hope that you will take good care of this project and make it productive and sustainable.

In order for your livelihood project to earn income and succeed, you should enhance the marketing and production aspect of your product. All transactions especially on financial aspect must be properly recorded and the sharing scheme of income must be established. The project management team should do their duties and responsibilities.

Today, we will also launch the DOLE Clinic in Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in this municipality. DOLE Clinic is a mechanism to bring DOLE closer to the community in Maria by providing pre-employment facilitation, labor standards enforcement, dispute resolution and livelihood assistance. This will be the center of the Department’s public assistance at the community level. It will offer information, services, and referral to appropriate agencies on matters such as local and overseas employment. I believe that your very dynamic PESO manager, Hon. Roselyn Asok, has already been doing these especially on facilitation of livelihood assistance and employment facilitation.

I commend the LGU Maria for making the Department of Labor and Employment as your partner in making the lives of the people in this municipality better through our cooperation in making our services available in this side of this province. Rest assured, our Office would continue to support your programs and services. Thank you and good morning once again

Regional Director Cyril L. Ticao
